The Silicon Valley start-up accelerator The Founder Institute is now (again) accepting applications for its summer 2020 program in Frankfurt.

The English-language program has enjoyed huge success since it opened its doors last year, having graduated 8 new companies as part of its first batch of Frankfurt startups. The program is now looking for its next group of founders.

Carolina Yeo, Director of the Frankfurt chapter, says applications are already open for the Summer 2020 semester, starting in August. “We’re looking for people who are passionate about building a technology company”, she says.

“We don’t care how old you are, how much experience you have, or if you’re working a day-job. If you have the potential to lead a startup, we want to help you achieve that.”

Carolina graduated from the program herself in 2014. “The Founder Institute was instrumental in helping me launch my company. The support and direction I received was fantastic. I met some great people and I continue to use that network today.”

Eugenio Grapa, another FI local director announces that “The first applications already arrived, some of them even confirmed, and there is the goal to achieve similar numbers as in 2019, when nearly 200 founders applied to the Frankfurt program”. From those 200 applicants, 8 finished the graduated, as incorporated companies operate in industries including finance, social networking, logistics, training, and personal services. Britta Mues-Walter, informs that “Due to the current pandemic, the 2020 program will run online and, if possible, in-person. Participants wishing to participate virtually will be fully supported”. “Online sessions provide unique benefits and we’re excited about including some great new mentors from outside the Frankfurt area. We can also accept founders who otherwise couldn’t make the trip to Frankfurt every week”, Quentin Appleby re-inforces the idea and benefits.

The program is again structured around 14 sessions, each featuring highly qualified mentors who provide instruction and feedback in their area of expertise. “Our founders and mentors rate each other at every step of the program. It’s a tough process and ensures founders focus on building successful companies. We only invite back mentors who provide the most value to our founders. For 2020, we have a very strong lineup of experts.”

“This is a challenging time for entrepreneurs launching a new startup, but there’s a huge demand for new ideas and improved solutions. That’s an opportunity for startups. I’m excited to see what Frankfurt can produce and look forward to meeting our next cohort of founders.”
